| 1. Minutes of the last meeting - Agreed. |
2. Matters arising
- Reminder that Katrina Slocombe has offered to give talks to groups on her Earthwatch trip to Pantonelle in Brazil
- Strimmer Course was run in July, please let Sue or Adrian know if would like to see other training courses.
- Art in the Countryside - there is some HCC money for 'artists' to work on Hampshire sites.
|
3. 'Go Wild' In September - Progress to date
- Introductions - Donna Hill has volunteered to help BVCP with preparation for Go Wild and it is largely thanks to her that we have progressed this far.
- Photoshoot - David Searchfield took some photos before the meeting and these will be used as the basis of a general Press Release in the week before the first events. Thanks to everyone for arriving promptly.
- Programme - A4 fliers / Posters. A4 fliers have been produced for each Group with details of individual tasks on one side and the full Go Wild events list on the back. More are available if needed, let Sue know. There are also general fliers / posters publicising the whole event. It was suggested that these could be put up on site and distributed via: house to house (particularly recommended by Brickfields), Local Council Offices, Libraries, Information Centres, doctors, dentists, vets, Leisure Centres, churches, shops, police stations. Each group will distribute posters locally.
BVCP can photocopy / enlarge / laminate if this would help with posters etc.
- Banners / Boards - 4 banners and 4 foamex boards have been produced with the Go Wild logo. The aim is to enable each group to have one of each for their event. Groups to use their discretion to decide whether to put banners up before the event or just for the day. If possible the boards could be placed in a local venue for the week beforehand. See attached. (Boards / Banner locations & dates)
- Display Boards - BVCP have some display boards available which could be loaned out to groups if they are interested in placing displays in local libraries, information centres etc.
- Press - BVCP will produce 3 Press Releases, one before, one during and one after the event.
Each group will also make Press Releases to their local papers. All agreed on the importance of having a photograph and of having a hook, something to make your event stand out.
- Radio - BVCP will approach SCR, Garrison Radio and the Eagle. Debbie has good contacts at the Eagle and will ask them to give coverage. Have a slot booked on SCR for lunchtime Monday 1st September.
- BBQ - Yateley Countryside Rangers are hosting the BBQ at Yateley Common. It will be open to all current volunteers in the valley plus any newcomers from Go Wild. Will have an invite that can be handed out by groups on the day which will include a request to book a place, directions etc. GV may be able to loan a gas BBQ for the day.

4. On the day
Some things to bear in mind
- H&S - Log in and out system. Accident book. Tool talk, explain rules
- Take details of any newcomers.
- Leaflets to hand out for own group and remainder of Go Wild. Group programme for next month / 6 months. BVCP to supply A5 Local Groups leaflets.
|
5. Measures of Success
How can the success of Go Wild be judged?
- Numbers of visitors on the day
- Numbers of new volunteers taking part on the day
These may not be new regular volunteers but this does give an indication of general raised awareness
- Number of new regular volunteers, we dare to hope.
- Extent of coverage in press / local area.
Even if don't come out on the day, all helps to raise awareness. If each group can keep a record of the numbers of visitors, volunteers etc. on the day this will give us some indication of how successful we have been. |

- Banners are up at Rowhill and RBC offices.
- If we can help at all, please give us a call - Sue & Adrian
