Broad Leaved Pond Weed - Potamogeton natans

Perennial submerged aquatic freshwater plant, widespread and common in still or slow flowing waters. Dark green oval pointed floating leaves 10-12cm (3.9-4.75in) long on stems to 1m (3ft 3in) long possibly longer, submerged leaves are linear. Small green / white plantain like flower spikes without petals during May to September. Grows in lakes, ponds, slow rivers and ditches in highly organic mud.
