Common Comfrey - Symphytum officinalis

Grows to a height of 1m (3ft). Hairy perennial of damp ground, often found beside rivers, on banks and in ditches. Widespread and common but only in Central and Southern England. Stems usually well branched and keeled or prominently winged. Long hairy tapering, broadly lanceolate leaves, upper ones clasping stem. Curved clusters of pink-purple or cream flowers appear May to July.
