Doves Foot Cranes Bill - Geranium molle
Height up to 20cm (8in). A spreading, very hairy annual of dry, grassy places including roadside verges. Common and widespread throughout the country, especially in the South. Leaves are hairy and rounded but margins cut into 5 - 7 lobes. Pairs of pink flowers, 5 - 10mm (0.25 - 0.5in) across, appear April - August.
Other species in the family - Herb Robert (G. robertainium), Cut Leaved Cranesbill (G. dissectum), Shining Cranesbill (G. lucidum), Round Leaved Cranesbill (G. rotundifolium), Bloody Cranesbill (G. sanguieum), Small flowered Cranesbill (G. pusillum), Rock Cranesbill (G. macrorrhizum), Long Stalked Cranesbill (G. columbinum), Wood Cranesbill (G. sylvaticum) with purple flowers, Dusky Cranesbill (G. phaeum) has black/purple or brown flowers and Meadow Cranesbill (G. pratense) with violet/blue lowers.
