Ribwort Plantian - Plantago lanceolata

Height up to 45cm (18in). Perennial of disturbed grassland, cultivated ground and tracks. Widespread and common throughout the UK. Deep green leaves forming a spreading basal rosette, lanceolate and up to 20cm (8in) long. Compact, ovoid flower heads borne on furrowed stalks, May - October. Grows as a weed in meadows, fields, pastures, by roadsides, on wasteland, in most areas. Related to Hoary Plantain (P. media) having ovate leaves and a round stem.
