Ducklings, Geese breeding, Birds.

Ducks & Geese .....
Not too much for this installment even though spring is in full swing.  A pair of ducks have managed to raise a brood in the last two weeks, they did number eight but are now only five, presumably picked off by the Heron who can be seen regularly patrolling the pond, usually in the afternoons.  The Canada Geese are now also breeding having spent the last month just hanging around.  They are nesting in exactly the same spot as last year so we must presume that they are the same pair as last year who managed to raise a brood of four after much harassment from the Heron.

Birds .....
Several other nests have been seen in the park (Tits & Sparrows), the Pigeons are creating a fuss and the Green Woodpecker can be heard calling from many points both within the park and in the locale.  As usual with this bird you will often hear it but seldom see one.

2001 Fun Day .....
The Fun Day for this year is confirmed for Sunday the 1st of July, 11:00am to 4:00pm, preparations are progressing but if you would like space at the event please let us know, there are not many plots remaining as we are one of the few events still on during the Foot & Mouth problems.  Held again in the park, Boxalls Lane, Aldershot.  (location map) - Local environment groups, stalls, games, cakes, refreshments & more.  Free admission.  E-mail for information.

If you see any vandalism, damage or disturbance in the park, please do not get involved, but phone the Police on the usual numbers -
