Also known as - D. altercator, Swammerdam's Bee

A medium sized solitary mining bee, hairy overall with bright yellow hind legs, female bees have longer hairs than the male ♂.  A Nationally Notable B species in the UK.  Found in northern temperate areas, North America, Europe, Asia, it can be seen in the south of the UK in coastal dunes or heaths, sandy gravel pits with dry, well–drained, sandy soil.
