Privet - Ligustrum vulgare

This plant is poisonous.

Growing to 3m (6ft)and sometimes more, mostly for hedging. Semi-evergreen bush with lance shaped green leaves, growing almost anywhere but mostly on chalk, small white fluffy 4 petalled flowers appear in June to July fruiting to a glossy black berry.

Related Japanese variety L. ovalifolium is a taller more robust species now quite popular for hedging.
